Tesis Badesa SmallFrancisco Javier Badesa successfully defended his PhD Thesis «Multimodal Interface and Bio-cooperative Control for Robot-Aided Neuro-Rehabilitation Systems» on January 24th 2014. The thesis, directed by Dr. Nicholas Manuel García Aracil and Dr. José María Sabater Navarro, was realized in the Robotics and Virtual Reality Research Laboratory (VR2). The thesis developed a new robotic system for assisted neuro-rehabilitation actuated by pneumatic technology, focused on the upper limb rehabilitation in patients with hemiparesis due to stroke. The thesis also investigated the design and implementation of a control system that uses information from several physiological signals in order to automatically modify the difficulty level of the robotic rehabilitation tasks.
