Tesis Ricardo MoralesRicardo Morales Vidal successfully defended his PhD Thesis “Design and Control of Robotic Devices for Early Administration of Neuro-Rehabilitation Therapies” on February 26th 2014. The thesis, directed by Dr. Nicolas Manuel García Aracil and Dr. José María Sabater Navarro, was realized in the Medical Robotics Unit of Biomedical Neuroengineering Research Group. In this work, a new robotic device based on pneumatic technology for the early delivering of rehabilitation therapies was presented. Moreover, a new robotic platform was developed and novel control techniques to maximize the motivation and participation of the patient during the course of therapy depending on his/her physiological state estimation and different parameters that measure his/her performance during therapy were designed and tested.
