The PhD student David Valiente defended his doctoral thesis entitled «View-based SLAM in the 2-1 / 2D omnidirectional images With space and feature point information», on October 3th, 2016.

The main contribution achieved in this thesis has been a new visual map approach consisting of a reduced set of omnidirectional images within the problem of SLAM in mobile robotics, with application in navigation and exploration tasks.

This thesis has been developed under the supervision of Dr. Oscar Reinoso and Dr. Arturo Gil. and it has been presented in the form of International Doctorate, since David Valiente stayed at the University of Technology of Sydney (Australia), as part of his Doctoral studies.
