During the days December 14th to 16th, 2016, the International Workshop on Assistive & Rehabilitation Technology – IWART. This workshop is addressed to researchers and professionals interested in Assistive & Rehabilitation Robotics and in the new perspectives in this field provided by the direct link to neuroscience.

The workshop is organized by TECNIT professor Dr. Nicolás García.

EMXYS NAOsat Cubesat platform has entered study phase to protect Earth from asteroid impacts


ImagenThe European Space Agency – ESA has selected EMXYS NAOsat nano satellite platform, in the frame of the Asteroid Geological Explorer project, as a candidate for the demonstration payload of the Asteorid Impact Mission that, in cooperation with NASA, plans to rendezvous the asteroid Didymos in 2020 to study Near-Earth Orbit mitigation techniques and understand the Solar System evolution.

EMXYS is a company leaded by Dr. José Antonio Carrasco and Francisco Javier García de Quirós, professors of the UMH Electronic Technology Division and TECNIT collaborators, which is located in the Scientific Park of UMH.

Nicolás García coordinates a European project about multimodal interfaces ot assist disabled people


03-02-15-proyecto-europeoDr. Nicolás GarcĂ­a, profesor of the Biomedical Neuroengineeirng Group, coordinates a European research project entitled “AIDE – Adaptive Multimodal Interfaces to Assist Disabled People in Daily Activities”. The goal of this study is to contribute to develop improvements in the user-technology multimodal interface, with modularity and adaptability to diabled people. The budget of the project is 3,4 million euros, and it is composed of 9  institutions and companies from Italy, Germany, United Kingdom and Spain.

The project is financed by tje Horizon 2020 european program, and will be developed for three years.

In addition to Prof. García, the UMH team includes Prof. Eduardo Fernández and Prof. José María Sabater, from the UMH Biomedical Neuroengineeirng Group

Jose M. Azorin gives a seminar about brain-machine interfaces to control robotic exoskeletons in San Diego (USA)

Azorin has participated as invited speaker in the tutorial “Brain-Machine Interfaces (BMI): From Neural Decoding to Real-World Applications” in the framework of the 2014 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC2014), which has been held in San Diego, CA, USA in October 5-8, 2014.

Prof. Azorin’s talk has been focused on the Brain-Computer Interfaces to control robotic exoskeletons that have been developed at UMH. In this tutorial 4 speakers from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland), University College London (United Kingdom), Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NASA (USA) and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) have also participated.

José María Azorin participates in an international congress on robotic exoskeletons in Bayonne

During the day, Prof. Azorín will present the brain interfaces developed at the UMH Brain-Machine Interfaces Laboratory, in the framework of the European project and the Spanish project BioMot Brain2. New European project


Proyecto EU AzorinDr. José María Azorin leads the research team of the UMH that has just started its participation last October 2013 in the European project BioMot: Smart Wearable Robots with Bioinspired Sensory-Motor Skills. This project is funded by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union (FP7-ICT-2013-10 – Grant Agreement no. 611695). The project lasts 3 years.
