Julia Arias2Dra. Mª Julia Arias Rodríguez graduated in Physical Sciences at the University of Salamanca, and she obtained the PhD in Sciences at the Polytechnical University of Madrid. Since 2001 she is Associate Professor of Electronic Technology at the Department of Materials Science, Optics and Electronic Technology

She initiated her research activity through a FPI scholarship from the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science, to develop a PhD Thesis in the field of simulation and characterization of quantum well lasers, under the supervision of Prof. Ignacio Esquivias Moscardó. In 1998-99 se stayed as postdoctoral fellow a the Thomson-CSF (current Thales). Since then, her research activity is focused on theoretical and experimental activities in the field of semiconductor lasers, mainly high power lasers and vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers, as well as in the field of multilayer optical filters and light propagation in media with anomalous dispersion, being coauthor of more than 15 international publications.

She has more than 15 years experience in teaching different subjects in the area of electronic technology, mainly in electronics instrumentation and optoelectronics. In the period 2011-2015 she was the Director of the Department of Materials Science, Optics and Electronics Technology at UMH. SInce 2015 she is the Secretary of this department.

 

blanesDr. José Manuel Blanes

He is Associate Professor at the Electronics Technology Area of the Miguel Hernandez University of Elche. He received a Telecommunications Engineering degree from the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 1998. In 2011 he received the PhD from the Miguel Hernandez University of Elche. Currently his research is activity is integrated in the Industrial Electronics research group (IEG) within the Department of Materials Science, Optics and Electronics Technology.

His research activities include power conversion systems for aerospace, renewable energy, electrical vehicles among others, as well as, instrumentation and digital electronics.

He participated in 16 research and technology transfer projects and he has co-authored 90 technical.

 

Jose Maria Camara2Dr. José María Cámara Zapata

He is Associate Professor in the Knowledge area of Applied Physics in the Department of Physics and Computer Architecture. He received the Agronomic Engineering degree from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Then, he got the PhD from the University Miguel Hernández. The experimental work was carried out in the Centre of Soil Science and Applied Biology Segura (Superior Council for Scientific Research). His PhD examined various aspects of biophysics of water in plants under saline conditions.

At present, its activity is integrated into the research group Water and Energy for Sustainable Agriculture. His interests focus on applications of solar energy, energy efficiency and water use in agricultural production systems.

His research is summarized in the publication of over 100 publications in international journals with impact, book chapters, journals and conference contributions. He has participated in 12 competitive research projects and contracts with six companies. He has been principal investigator of one of each type. He has directed a PhD on microfiltration for desalination of water by reverse osmosis. He is the author of three patents on device applications of solar energy. He made a stay in the Federal University of Paraíba (Brazil) to study the production of cooling from solar energy through adsorption and absorption techniques.

 

Juan Carlos Ferrer2Dr. Juan Carlos Ferrer Millan

He is Associate Professor at the Area of Electronics. He graduated in Physics and got his PhD in Physics both at the University of Barcelona. The thesis was devoted to the study of low-dimensional, self-organized heterostructures, based on III-V semiconductors. He did a research stage at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (California, USA) as staff scientist focused on the characterization of VCSEL structures. He has been an active user or technician in charge of equipment for the structural and optical characterization of materials: transmission and scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, optical absorption spectroscopy and photoluminescence, among others.

Currently, he is member of the organic and hybrid optoelectronic devices group. He is involved in the synthesis and characterization of semiconductor nanoparticles in colloidal suspension, in order to improve the optical and electrical properties of optoelectronic devices and photovoltaic cells.

He is Director of the Master in Solar and Renewable Energy.

He is an Associate Professor of the Systems Engineering and Automation Department and a scientific researcher in the Brain-Machine Interface Systems Lab at UMH. He holds an M.Sc in Telecommunication Engineering from UMHche in 2007 and a Ph.D. in Communication and Industrial Technology by UMH  in 2012.

His current research interests are Human-Robot and Human-Computer Interfaces. He is focused on Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI) (non-invasive brain interfaces) and Multimodal Human-Robot Interfaces (integrating brain, ocular and haptic information).

 

 

Arturo GilDr. Arturo Gil Aparicio

He works as a Contracted Doctor Professor at Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche (UMH). He obtained the degree in Industrial Engineering at UMH in 2002, receiving the best student’s award in Industrial Engineering. In 2008 he obtained the Ph.D. in “Industrial Technologies” at UMH. Since 2003 he is a professor and researcher at the UMH teaching courses on control, robotics and computer vision. Today, he focuses his research on the area of robotics manipulators, mobile robotics, visual SLAM and control, areas in which he has published numerous research articles.

Recently he works on the modelling and control of parallel robots. Since 2012 he develops and maintains the ARTE library to teach robotic manipulators (http://arvc.umh.es/arte) and assists in the development and production of Parola tool (http://arvc.umh.es/parola) that enables the management and simulation of classic parallel mechanisms.

 

FotoLMJ3Dr. Luis Miguel Jiménez García 

Associate Professor at Miguel Hernández University of Elche (Spain) in the area of ​​ Systems Engineering and Automation. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and a PhD in Robotics  and Automation from Miguel Hernández University  of Elche. His research has focused on the field of automation, robotics and computer vision within ARVC Research Group at the UMH. He is head of the Department of Systems and Automation Engineering since 2015.

He has participated in numerous research competitive projects. He has also participated in several technology transfer agreements. He has written far more than 70 relevant scientific publications (in journals and international scientific conferences) included in international databases. He is the author/coauthor of 4 patents. He has participated in several thematic research networks and worked as a reviewer of prestigious scientific journals.

 

Otoniel Lopez Granado2Dr. Otoniel López Granado

He received his M.S in Computer Science from the University of Alicante (Spain) in 1996. During 1997-2003 he worked as programmer analyst in InfoTec, Tec. Inf. Industrial, S.L., an industrial informatics company. Then, he got PhD in Computer Science in 2010. In 2003 he joined the Computer Engineering Department at Miguel Hernandez University (UMH), Spain, as a partial-time professor and currently, he works as associate professor in that Department.

He has been part of the program committee in top international conferences as well as guest reviewer in international journals.  He has been guest editor in EURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing (2013). He has organized both the “Jornadas de Paralelismo” and the II Workshop on Multimedia Data Coding and Transmission.

In addition, he has been the head of the Spanish Thematic Network on Multimedia Data Coding and Transmission.

 

carlos-perezDr. Carlos Perez-Vidal

He is Associate Professor of Control and Systems Engineering and chief of the Systems Engineering Lab at Miguel Hernandez University (Spain). He holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering (1998), M.Sc. in Control Engineering (2000) and Ph.D. in Industrial Technologies (2008).

He has 6 patents related with bio-engineering and industrial engineering inventions. He has leaded or participated in more than 20 research projects and has published more than 30 research papers in the highest impact international journals.

 

Dr. Alberto Rodríguez Martínez

He is Associate Professor at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH). He qualified in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Vigo in 1998. In 2011 obtained a doctorate degree in Communications from the Technical University of Valencia with a thesis on time-frequency methods for the analysis of ultrasonic signals in the field of non-destructive testing.

He develops its research activities in the field of signal processing, particularly in time-to-frequency analysis techniques, applied to the study of ultrasonic signals and biomedical signals. Collaborates with the Systems Interface Lab Brain-machine UMH group in national and European projects for the development of brain-to-computer devices to improve neuronal systems rehabilitation. In this line of research, he also collaborates with the Signal Processing Group at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, among others participating in national research projects for EEG signal analysis aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders and epilepsy, as well as memory disorders caused by strokes.

He also participates in international research projects in the field of Ultrasonic Non-Destructive Testing together with the Kaunas Technology University in Lithuania, where he teaches seminars as a guest professor in Doctoral and Master courses of Bioengineering and Electronics studies

 

Angel San BlasDr. Ángel Antonio San Blas Oltra

He received a Telecommunications Engineering degree and a Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering, both from the Technical University of Valencia, Spain. In 2001, he became a Researcher with the Department of Communications, Technical University of Valencia, where he was involved in the development of simulation tools for the full-wave analysis and design of passive waveguide components. In 2002, he was a Researcher with the Department  of Electronics, Università degli Studi di Pavia, Italy, in the framework of the European Network MMCODEF (Millimetre-wave and Microwave Components Design Framework for Ground and Space Multimedia Network, V European Framework Programme). Since 2003, he has been an Assistant Professor with the Department of Communications Engineering (UMH).

Dr. San Blas has participated in many R&D projects funded by open calls from Spanish public institutions, the European Union, and private companies (e.g. ESA-ESTEC and Thales Alenia Space). He has authored/co-authored more than 85 contributions in JCR-SCI indexed journals, R&D technical books, and national and international technical symposiums related to the electrical and electronics engineering. Since 2012, he serves on the Editorial Board (Associate Editor) of the International Journal of Electronics and Communications.

 

Emilio Velasco2Dr. Emilio Velasco Sanchez

He is an Associate Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He received his Degree in Industrial Engineering (in Mechanical Machines) in 1992 at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and got his PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University Carlos III of Madrid in 1997, with a PhD thesis in the field of motor vehicle engineering.

He is currently the Director of the Research Group AME (Applied Mechanical Engineering), where he develops his research focused on the subjects such as motor vehicle engineering and acoustical engineering. He is the author of 8 original contributions in indexed international journals and more than 67 communications in proceedings conferences. He has participated in 8 national projects, being the leader of fiv eof them, and more than 25 agreements and contracts with different companies.

From 2003 to 2011 he was Director of the Polytechnic School of Elche
